Description
The third boat of the Collins class, HMAS Waller was commissioned on July 10th 1999.
In 2000, Waller became the first RAN submarine to operate as a fully integrated component of a United States Navy carrier battle group. During RIMPAC war games Waller successfully engaged two USN nuclear submarines and came into attacking range of the supercarrier, Ambraham Lincoln. 2003 exercises Waller also “sank” a Los Angeles class nuclear submarine, and in waters just over 230 feet deep, two USN amphibious vessels.
